Abstract

The cooperative sector serves large sectors of the population whose income losses became apparent during the pandemic. The investigation determined the way in which the Caninde Cooperative faced the impact caused in credit recovery by the pandemic. The research was field and descriptive level, the interview was used as the data collection technique that was applied to officials and managers of the Cooperative. The recovered credits fluctuate over the three years, in 2019 before the pandemic, the cooperative managed to recover an amount of Gs. 2,742,565,985 of the loans granted, however, in 2020 with the arrival of the pandemic this figure decreased 23% in relation to the previous year, however, in 2021 there was a recovery of 21% compared to 2020. The pandemic had a significant impact on the behavior of debtors. Regarding the delinquency rate maintained by the Caninde Cooperative at the end of 2019, before the pandemic, a delinquency rate of 15% was recorded; this increased to 23% in 2020 with the arrival of COVID-19. Already in 2021, the delinquency rate was reduced to 19%, with the application of appropriate credit recovery strategies. These strategies include: calls and messages, visits to the partner, commissions to the recovery officer and hiring new staff.
